Read to a Therapy Dog
Halifax Reads!
Thurs. Oct. 29, 3-4:30 p.m.

Read to Koda, a big, friendly, non-judgemental Newfoundland! An after-school program for grades 1 and up.
The new Halifax Reads selection -- Sharron Kahn Luttrell's memoir Weekends with Daisy -- is about the author's experience sharing the training of Daisy, a golden Labrador retriever puppy, to become an assistance dog, with a prison inmate named Kevin through the Prison Pups Partnership program run by NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services).
Copies of Weekends with Daisy are available to check out!
Halifax Reads is funded by the Friends of the Library and through your gifts to the library's Gift Fund.

Halloween Party

Infant Lapsit is every Friday at 10 a.m. Fall storytime sessions run through Oct. 9. Check Children's Page for details!

Faxes Raised to $1/Page

Starting Sept. 1, the price of faxing and receiving faxes has increased to $1/page from 50 cents/page. Cover sheets will still be free.

Reserve Museum Passes from Home!

Museum Passes

You can now browse for and book museum passes online. A valid library card is needed to reserve and pick up the pass. Due to high demand, the Massachusetts State Parks parking pass is now available to Halifax residents only. *NEW* Boston Harbor Islands ferry pass (buy 1, get 1 free).

We have clubs for all ages and interests. Here's what we're reading now:

  • Evening Readers - Weekends with Daisy by Sharron Kahn Luttrell| meeting - Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. (a Halifax Reads! event)
  • Mystery Readers - Monkeewrench by P.J. Tracy| meeting - Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.
  • Afternoon Readers - The Sweet Potato Queens' First Big Ass Novel by Jill Conner Browne with Karin Gillespie| meeting - Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
