The Holmes Public Library is working to make your holidays easier by providing a one stop resource for the Holiday activities in Halifax.

The streets and paths between the buildings will be lit by luminaries prepared by the Girl Scouts and set out by the Fire Department and Highway Department along with volunteers. Buildings that are open to the public display red and white "Welcome" banners.

Halifax Elementary School PTO Pancake Breakfast with Santa at the Halifax Elementary School. Tickets will be sold through the school and available at the door. Meet Santa for a picture, enjoy delicious pancakes with sausage, make an ornament, and visit the children's shopping table (no peeking from the adults). There will be a bake sale table (going to 11:00am) and adult shopping table as well. Fun for the whole family. Raffle tickets will be sold for an array of terrific prizes. This is one of Halifax PTO's fundraisers with all money going to fund enrichment, field trips and school/teacher supplies for our elementary school.

Opening Performance at the Halifax Elementary School with the Halifax Elementary School Chorus. Peformers from A Dancer's World will perform at 5:15pm.

Open houses at the Halifax Fire Station, the Holmes Public Library, the Council on Aging, St. David's Episcopal Church, the Museum of Halifax, the Brockton Store and the Millennium Trail, the Old Schoolhouse and Blacksmith Shop, and Town Hall. The Halifax Congregational Church will also be open for specific events. The open houses feature various festivities, displays, decorations, and refreshments.

Hay rides will be offered to parts of the festivities (donation requested). Please let everyone have a chance to have a ride.

There will be ice sculptures near the Old Schoolhouse and Blacksmith Shop.

The Town Hall will be decorated for a Victorian Christmas and have a G-gauge railroad display.

The Brockton Store will be open so letters can be sent to Santa. Mutual Federal Savings will serve hot drinks and refreshments.

The Boy Scouts will host their Campside Christmas in front of the Town Hall Annex (the old Police Station) and have a "flag retirement" ceremony.

St. David's Episcopal Church will serve as a collection point for donations of toys and canned goods for the food pantry.

The Silver Lake High School National Honor Society Students will be caroling at various buildings during the evening and at the Library.

Radio station WROR will be in the Town Hall parking lo providing holiday music throughout the event.

The Youth and Recreation Commission will have refreshments and activities in the lobby of the Elementary School Gym.

Cub Scout Pack 239 will be collecting coats in front of the Council on Aging.

A Greens Workshop
Saturday, December 6 - 10 am to Noon

Get a jump start on your Christmas decorating. Some greens will be provided. Bring your own clippers, containers, and wire. Class is limited to 15, so call or stop by the library to register.


Friday, December 19 - Noon to 3 pm

The Staff of the Holmes Public Library invites you to our annual Solstice Tea. Stop by for a hot cup of tea or coffee and a sweet or two.
