What is the Friends of the Holmes Public Library and what does the group do?
The Friends of the Holmes Public Library was formed and incorporated in January of 1987 to support the community’s library services and the staff of the Holmes Public Library. Five years ago a plea was made to the community for volunteers to hold positions as officers or the Friends would have to disband and the treasury would revert to the state. Fortunately, the community responded and the actively involved members today are the core of the present organization.
The mission of the Friends of the Holmes Public Library, Inc. is to support the Holmes Public Library by sponsoring library activities and programs; donating materials and books; and stimulating volunteer services and gifts to the library. 100% of all funds raised are spent directly on materials and programs that benefit the library, its patrons, and the community.
